Green Smoothies
It has been six days and 12 smoothies since the green smoothie seminar. I have made a few small changes to my diet. Partly because smoothies are easy to make, clean up after and consume. I have bought and consumed, more fruit and veggies in the past week then the whole month before and more leafy greens than the past 6 months.
As kale is very strong I am hesitant to use much of it at once. Other than that spinach, parsley and chard have made up the base of the smoothies. With bananas, strawberries, grapes, apples, mango(frozen and fresh), mixed berries and papaya in random combinations, used to sweeten the concoction.
I am cutting down on fat consumption. Step #1 - drink black coffee only. #2 - limit processed foods. #3 - be ok with the occasional donut or 1/2 slice of pizza or premade veggie tempura. I am not going to be a health nut overnight so if just changing a few simple things the "diet" will be easier to stick to.
Because I am eating mostly raw foods one person called it a "cheater diet", with disdain. I rarely cook so preparing a full on meal and 2 huge healthy smoothies a day is an improvement. The "cheater" comment stuck with me and I bought & consumed tofu hotdogs and veggie tempura as well as having a serving of the pasta Robert made for dinner tonight. Which were all processed and cooked. A small falling off the wagon that could lead to total derailment. I tend to get bored with things easily and move on to the next latest greatest thing anyway. But until then there are so many leafy greens to discover, stinging nettles and dandelion could be interesting. If you have a favorite leafy green, please introduce me. :)
