Evil Rental agency strikes again.
Today I received a letter from the property rental agency (referred to as P-R-A in the rest of the post). It came to their attention that there has been a male in residence for a considerable amount of time. I am to volunteer a rent increase to cover the "additional wear and tear", "additional heat useage", "additional water usage" and "additional hot water usage".
Apparently telling them I was getting married was not a clue.
The water pressure here sucks. Drip, drip, drip... or alternates from hot to cold and back. Talk about traumatic showers. So nope not paying for more hot water as it is balanced. Hubby does drink water and sometimes does dishes but does not have long soaks in the tub, wash a car or water the huge lawn of this place. The landlord does the obsessive watering. Why should I pay for additional water we don't use. The hydro and the gas did not go up.
This is an old apartment that has not been painted or the hardwood floors refinished in over 12 years. There are cracks in the wall from it settling dues to heavy rains. The silverfish are running rampant and the lino is coming up of its own accord.
Last month the land lord painted a door frame of a tenant downstairs and did not open windows in the common area. It was a toxic stink. In the letter it states I am not allowed to open any windows in the common area EVER and advised to keep the windows in my apartment closed.
Does this mean I am supposed to put up with toxic paint fumes and the pot smoke from the downstairs tenant, which vent like a chimney into my apartment? Who paints with cheap toxic paint, in the WINTER? and then gets pissed that the windows are left open. Is this covered by WHMIS at all?
Unfortunately the landlord and the P-R-A do not talk, or when they do the landlord does not tell the truth. Like that he GAVE me permission to garden, that he knew there was a "male in residence". Heck, He gave us a wedding present and offered to pay us to do light yard work. When the building was empty, except us, he was glad of the extra warm body for security purposes. Did he mention any of this??? NO.
He says not to tell the P-R-A anything and to tell him if there is a problem as it is cheaper. He was ticked that I called the P-R-A when the sink was clogged as it cost $500.
