Preserves





This is my first year canning. So far, 29 1L jars and 4 500ml jars sealed. The spiced plums and peaches might be just a tad too spicy. Who knew chilies were so darn hot? Though it will be just the thing to ward off a gloomy January day, we have 4 months of them, warmed up and poured over vanilla ice cream.

There have been many calls to Mom starting out with "I have a canning question". It is usually when the pots are boiling and the process stumps me. It is great to have her to call and though I do remember many of the steps just from seeing it done many times as a kid, just not the specific details.
