bridezilla
What is a "bridezilla"? Where did the term come from? Why is it so widely known?
I have worked in the bridal industry for almost 2 years. Specifically as a seamstress for a wedding dress shop, making, fixing and altering wedding and bridesmaids dresses. In that time I have seen and dealt with my share of brides both the Zilla and the non Zilla sort. There are many factors that bring out the Zilla in a bride.
- Slow or poor service at the gift registry. When one is going to bring in potentially thousands of dollars without the store doing any advertising is it too much to ask that the staff actually know how to deal with the process? Be polite? Return a phone call in less than a week? Have a website that is user friendly?
- Self centered Maid Of Honour or Bridesmaids. This day is about the Bride and Groom. It should not matter that your hem is 2 inches longer than you like it or you hate the colours the bride picked.
- Mothers in law (inlaws in general) that are medling, picky, bitchy and generally a pain in the tush.
I am currently planning my own wedding, which is just a month away and have had a few rather stressful moments. Though my family, friends and inlaws are great there are things that have been frusterating and beyond my control.
